SASSA Grant Payment September 2025 : Millions of South Africans depending on monthly social grants can breathe a sigh of relief as the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) now confirms the official payment dates for September 2025. The schedule is structured such that families can plan for necessary expenses, from Grants for Older Persons, Child Care, and those with disabilities.
When Do September Payments Begin?
According to SASSA, payments will start on Tuesday, 2 September 2025. Beneficiaries being staggered in their payment dates will prevent them from crowding pay points and ATMs all on the same day.
The following are the official payment dates for September 2025:
- Payments for the Grant for Older Persons – 2 September 2025.
- Payments for Disability Grants – 3 September 2025.
- Payments for Child Support and All Other Grants – 4 September 2025.
SASSA also reminded Grantees that after the moneys are deposited in their accounts, the moneys remain there until a withdrawal is made. No rush is required to be at the collection point on the very first day.
Who Will Benefit?
It aims to describe the payment schedule for millions of South Africans who depend on grants every month. This includes amounts paid for:
- Pensioners who need the Older Persons Grant to meet their daily needs.
- People with disabilities who require the Disability Grant.
- Caregivers and parents receiving the Child Support Grant, plus foster care and other child-related payments.
In many households, these grants form the base of their monthly budget: food, transport, school fees, and basic necessities.
Withdrawal Of Payment Facilities For The Beneficiaries
Payments will be made through bank accounts, SASSA cards, or withdrawals at participating retail outlets such as Shoprite, Boxer, Pick n Pay, and Checkers. SASSA advises beneficiaries to make use of bank accounts as much as possible because this is the most secure and fastest way to receive funds.
Important Reminders
- Always check the status of your SASSA online or by sending a message to the SASSA WhatsApp line before traveling to the pay point.
- Make sure to keep your banking details up to date to avoid delays.
- Stay alert for scams; SASSA never requests fees for the release of grants.
