What Is The Youth Support Grant?
The Youth Support Grant is meant to complement a broad scope of initiatives to empower young people, reduce unemployment, and provide some relief in a very challenging economic climate. Each successful applicant will be given R12,500 that may be one-off payment or in structured support, depending upon program guidelines.
The purpose of this money is to give some youth a chance to start small ventures or perhaps to pay for their studies or support assessing costs like transport and training for finding jobs. For many, this will be the first step toward independence and stability.
Who Qualifies For The R12,500 Youth Support Grant?
Qualifying application will have to satisfy the following requirements in general:
- Applicants must be aged between 18 and 35.
- In such a manner that they are currently unemployed or seeking employment.
- Applicants must be South African citizens with valid identity documents.
- Applicants must not be receiving another government grant or UIF benefit.
- The applicants, however, must prove genuine financial distress or intend to use the funding for employment, skills, or entrepreneurial purposes.

Processes To Get An Application Roughly Through
Application is accepted either online through an official Youth Support Grant portal or through a SASSA or government designated office, where one is required to submit:
- Valid South African ID.
- Proof of residence.
- Relevant supporting documents such as matric certificate, Curriculum vitae, or business plans (if applicable).
Once it is submitted for consideration, applications will be thoroughly reviewed, and the beneficiaries shall be notified either through SMS or via email within the shortest possible time. There will soon be disbursement soon after the formal approval.
