SASSA SRD Grant Payment : Attention, South African citizens! The SRD is still available for 2025 as announced by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA). SASSA also promised to keep the beneficiaries updated about the dates of payment for the grant. Therefore, there is no need for worry as the R370 grant is still streamlining the payment process to the grant holders.
What Is The SRD Grant?
In the time of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the grant was introduced to support the unemployed persons. It is an extension of the Social Relief of Distress Grant. Unnoverwhelmingly, since then the grant has been helping millions of families facing unemployment, high living costs and financial difficulties. The grant is still R370 in 2025, providing users with essential aid.
Who Qualifies For The Grant?
As usual, the SRD program will continue to use eligibility as the foundation on which to build its program. To qualify for the 2025 program, all applicants must
- Be a South African citizen, refugee, asylum seeker, or permanent resident;
- Be between 18 and 59 years old;
- Not be in receipt of a social grant, NSFAS allowance, or unemployment insurance benefit; and
- Be under the income threshold.
SASSA further explicated that in order to prevent any rejections or delays, all applicants must update and keep their details current on the designated portal.
2025 Payment Schedule
SASSA has provided a payment schedule for September and the rest of 2025. Disbursements will not happen to everyone at the same time. Instead, payments will become available to credit, mobile money, and retail payment accounts on a staggered basis, aligned with the user’s payment channel.
In order to curb excessive travelling and long queues at pay sites, beneficiaries should check their online profiles to ascertain the payout dates for their grants.
How To Apply Or Reconfirm Your Grant
Even if you did not apply or if your application has expired, you are welcome to apply at any time through the SASSA SRD portal. To keep their grant active, recipients might need to confirm their information from time to time.
