SASSA September Grants 2025 : SASSA as an institution has once again broken the news that their September 2025 grant payments will be premised on biometric verification. This action is presumed to be the next enhancement in their series of actions to fight fraud and make sure that their grant beneficiaries are the rightful recipients.
Payment Amounts For September 2025
This month’s approved payments are as follows:
- R2,315 for the Disability Grant.
- R560 for the Child Support Grant.
- R1,250 for the Foster Child Grant.
While these payments are certainly welcome to millions of households, SASSA has clearly stated that funds will not be released in the absence of biometric verifications.
Why Biometric Verification Matters
Duplicate applications, theft of identity and other fraudulent activities have been increasingly reported of late. Now biometric verifications including facial recognition and fingerprint scans are being introduced to curb risks and protect social grants.
There is concern that connectivity in rural areas or poor records might lead to mismatched records and verification failing. Other than this concern, beneficiaries, especially the genuine ones, are net beneficiaries of the protection offered for their funds.
Payment Dates And Beneficiary Advice
Grant payments will roll out as per the September schedule:
- Older Persons and Pension Grants : Early September.
- Disability Grants (R2,315) : September 4, 2025.
- Child Support (R560) and Foster Child (R1,250) Grants : From September 6, 2025 onwards.
Beneficiaries are urged to visit their nearest SASSA offices or mobile pay points well in advance to complete their biometric checks if they haven’t done so already. Failing to verify may result in withheld or delayed payments.
What Beneficiaries Should Do Now
- Check your status regularly via the SASSA website or SASSA USSD code.
- Update your details ensure your ID and personal information match Home Affairs records.
- Complete biometric verification at the designated office before your payment date.
SASSA has also reminded beneficiaries that grant payments will not expire if verification is delayed funds will be paid once the process is successfully completed.
