Big Relief: SASSA To Send Double Payments In September 2025 – Check Your Dates Now

SASSA Double Payment 2025 : Recipients of the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) grants have much to look forward to with the announcement of double payments scheduled for September 2025. National Treasury has prepared an adjustment plan that will address the existing backlogs and guarantee timely financial assistance for millions of South Africans. This development means a bit of extra support, especially for the many families that depend on these grants, at a critical moment in the year.

Clarification On The Double Payments

SASSA offered an explanation, specifying that the double payments are meant to resolve the September 2025 grant and other previous payments that had been held back by system difficulties. Now, all beneficiaries with outstanding payments or delayed grants earlier in the year can claim their balances.

With issues of backlog and delay being resolved, institutions can focus on the vulnerable and ensure grant payments go to pensioners, those with disabilities, and caregivers as required.

Who Will Benefit From Double Payments

Here’s what you should know about double payments:

  • Old Age Pension Grant (OAP Grant).
  • Disability Grant.
  • Child Support Grant.
  • Foster Care Grant.
  • Care Dependency Grant.
  • SRD R370 Grant (for those approved and pending payments).

If you receive support from any of these, please check your SASSA status online or on the Moya App to verify your due dates and expected amounts.

Payment Dates In September 2025

Based on the revised planning, the payments will still continue to be done in the same sequence as:

  • Pension Grants : early September
  • Disability Grants : the day after pension grants
  • Child and other grants : after the other grants have been paid
  • SRD R370 Grants : processed separately, usually mid-month

Payments being doubled implies that a number of beneficiaries will receive higher values in their accounts.

Important Advice For Beneficiaries

Users should take note of the following:

  • Bank Account Checks: Users should check their SASSA registered bank accounts to ensure they are not only active but also properly registered.
  • Limit Cash Withdrawals: Your funds are safe and remain in your account until you choose to access them.
  • Watch Out for Fraud: SASSA never asks for personal PINs, nor does it charge fees to release any grants.
