Provincial Payment Schedule September 2025
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is a statutory agency of the South African government, which is set to administer Social grants, and has set a schedule for all nine provinces. It is important to note that the clearance time of banks may vary in some cases but below is the set date of payments:
- Gauteng & Western Cape : Payments Begin Monday, 2 September 2025.
- KwaZulu-Natal & Eastern Cape : Payments Begin Tuesday, 3 September 2025.
- Free State & Northern Cape : Payments Begin Wednesday, 4 September 2025.
- Limpopo, Mpumalanga & North West : Payments Begin Thursday, 5 September 2025.
The grant beneficiaries who receive their grant through bank transfers may receive their payments depending on how fast their bank is in processing payments. Beneficiaries through SASSA cards or Postbank branches are advised to follow the same timetable outlined above.
How To Check The Status Of Your Payment
Before beneficiaries visit the payment points, they should verify their payment status. They can use any of the following means to verify the status.
- Access the SASSA website.
- Dial the USSD code (*134*7737#).
- Call the SASSA call centre.
- Check via their bank account.
This is useful to prevent long and unnecessary travel especially to the elderly.
